New UK Drone Rules in Force from 13 March

Legal amendments to the Air Navigation Order came into place earlier this week, banning the use of drones (without special permission) within 5km of an Airfield. The amendment replaces the previous 1km exclusion zone and is part of the Government’s response to the alleged drone incident at Gatwick earlier this year.

The CAA has created a helpful illustration of the new regulation:

There is also a new map of drone restrictions around UK airports, which is particularly useful:

When taking your drone on holiday, these are the sort of rules and regulations that you need to watch out for. This is just one of the many reasons why we always work with established local pilots in each destination for our drone holidays.

Stay safe. Stay legal.
