Can I Fly My Drone in Iceland?

We’ve all seen amazing drone photographs of Iceland’s almost surreal landscape, but is it legal to fly your drone in Iceland?

The good news is that, yes, you can take your drone to Iceland and fly it there. The Icelandic Travel Authority has published two sets of rules, one for recreational drone pilots in Iceland, the other for commercial use of drones in Iceland.

The rules for flying a drone in Iceland are similar to the rules in the UK, USA and other countries. The main difference being that all drones have to be marked with details of their owner.

So yes, you can take your drone on holiday with you in Iceland. Both rule sheets are shown below:
